Vegan Peach Pie by Susan Asato wins 3rd Place in Paramount Pictures Peach Pie Category at the 2014 APC National Pie Championships in Orlando, Florida, USA.

Congratulations to my love Susan Asato for winning 3rd Place in the Peach Pie category at the 2014 APC National Pie Championships in Orlando, FL, USA, further confirming that vegan food can hold it’s own against non-vegan competition! Susan’s only goal in competing is to help show that vegan food can compete and win against non-vegan food. It’s not a 1st (yet!) but this, along with the 2nd Place ribbon she won the last time she was here, shows that her vegan pies are serious contenders at the National level. I'm so proud of her!

Susan was up against some very serious bakers.  Three of her fellow competitors participated in the 2013 World Food Championships, one of whom won the Dessert category with another named first runner-up. Also competing in her division were past National Pie Champions, as well as State Pie Champions.

This year, the Peach Pie category was sponsored by Paramount Pictures, in conjunction with their movie, Labor Day.  One of the stars of the movie, Tobey Maguire is a vegan – maybe he’ll take note of this pie!

The last time Susan competed at the National Pie Championships, she got a 2nd Place red ribbon.  This time, she got a 3rd Place white ribbon.  Next year… blue???
